On 6 February 2026, the Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University (KKU), organised the workshop programme titled, “Building Champions: The Journey to Athletic Excellence,” at the Faculty of Education. The initiative aimed to enhance the capacity of physical education teachers, sports scientists, and athletic coaches by systematically integrating applied sports science knowledge into training practice. This workshop represents a significant step in developing sports personnel, enabling them to transcend traditional limitations and adopt innovative, evidence-based training approaches aligned with international performance standards.
Associate Professor Dr. Wiphut Kanchanasorn, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Sustainable Society, presided over the opening ceremony. In his remarks, he stated that modern athlete development relies not solely on technical prowess but also on sound, systematic sports science principles to build a strong, sustainable physical foundation. The Faculty of Education expected participants to gain both inspiration and practical techniques that could be applied to nurture future generations of athletes, enabling them to achieve international-level performance while also developing into innovative educators.
The atmosphere during the activity was highly engaging, covering both theoretical and practical components. The workshop was honoured to feature Assistant Professor Thaworn Kamutsri, a dedicated sports science expert behind the success of the Thai Women’s National Volleyball Team, as the distinguished speaker. The 50 participants learned critical highlights, including Periodization in Training for Excellence, techniques for enhancing Speed and Agility, developing Explosive Power, and training physical Coordination. These subjects are pivotal factors in boosting athletes’ movement efficiency and overall performance.
The success of this workshop marks a notable advancement for the Faculty of Education, KKU, and reinforces its commitment to developing teachers and coaches as leaders, not merely instructors. These leaders are dedicated to cultivating Thai athletic potential from the grassroots level to elite excellence. This initiative contributes to shaping a new chapter in Thai sports development, supporting the country’s progression towards international recognition under globally accepted standards.
