KKU Forges Ahead with “KKU Living Museum” Project, Holds Key Meeting to Transform Former Student Organisation Building into a Living Museum

Khon Kaen University is advancing its project to renovate the former Student Organisation Building and its surrounding area into the “KKU Living Museum,” a new, vibrant exhibition space. The university recently convened a crucial meeting of the data collection committee to select and refine all content that will be displayed, reaffirming the goal of creating a space rich in memory, pride, and connection for students and alumni of all generations.

On 28 February 2026, a meeting of the data collection committee for the KKU Living Museum project was held at the Sookwan Room, Bayasita Hotel, Khon Kaen University. The meeting was led by Mr. Somsak Taecharoenviriyakul, former President of the KKU Alumni Association (KKU, 12th cohort), and Associate Professor Pensri Jaroenwanit, Ph.D., Vice President for Student Affairs and Innovation Commercialization. They were joined by esteemed alumni, distinguished experts, and representatives from various relevant university departments.

This meeting marked a significant milestone in the project’s progress, following the finalisation of the architectural design and a clear operational plan. The primary agenda was to brainstorm and finalise the entire exhibition content for the museum, ensuring that the information is complete, aligns with the aspirations and ideology of Khon Kaen University, and profoundly reflects the history and spirit of the Mor Din Daeng community.

The KKU Living Museum project aims to transform the former Student Organisation Building into a “living space.” It will blend historical displays and cherished stories of the KKU community with functional areas for current student and alumni activities, thereby fostering and passing on cherished bonds from one generation to the next.

The working committee aims to finalise all content as quickly as possible to provide the information to the architectural and design teams for the next phase. This will lead to the bidding process and the start of construction according to the established plan, ensuring the successful completion of the KKU Living Museum and establishing the former student union building as a treasured landmark of memory for Khon Kaen University for years to come.
