On 6 March 2026, the Faculty of Nursing at Khon Kaen University advanced its global academic network by holding an online Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with the School of Nursing, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), People’s Republic of China, one of the world’s leading educational institutions (ranked 47th globally by the QS World University Rankings 2025).

The signing ceremony was honoured by the presence of Associate Professor Dr. Ampornpan Theeranut, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at Khon Kaen University, and Professor Dr. Min Li, Dean of the School of Nursing at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, who served as the official signatories. The event was witnessed via teleconference by executives, faculty members, and staff from both institutions.

This historic collaboration aims to promote and develop academic excellence in the field of nursing, encompassing the following dimensions:

• Student Exchange: Providing opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students to study and practise in different cultural environments, thereby enhancing their cross-cultural nursing skills and experiences.
• Faculty and Researcher Exchange: Fostering the exchange of knowledge and expertise and facilitating collaborative research development.
• Joint Research Development: Driving the creation of innovations and new knowledge to address global health challenges.
• Joint Conferences, Seminars, and Academic Activities: Creating platforms for knowledge exchange and disseminating academic work to the public.

Associate Professor Dr. Ampornpan Theeranut, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at KKU, stated, “This signing marks a significant step in expanding our collaborative network with a world-class institution like SJTU. It will elevate the quality of our educational management, research, and academic services to an international standard. Furthermore, it creates opportunities for our students and staff to fully develop their potential, enabling them to become global citizens in the nursing profession.”

The collaboration between the Faculty of Nursing at Khon Kaen University and the School of Nursing at Shanghai Jiao Tong University will serve as a key driving force in producing high-quality nursing graduates, creating outstanding research, and contributing to the sustainable improvement of global health.
