KKU Faculty of Technology Welcomes National Experts on Carbon Capture Technology

KHON KAEN – The Faculty of Technology at Khon Kaen University (KKU) hosted a delegation of experts from the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) to showcase its research and infrastructure related to Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS). The visit is part of a national effort to achieve Thailand’s Net Zero emissions goal.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, February 25, 2026, a team from the Thailand CCUS Alliance (TCCA), a project under the NSTDA, was welcomed by the university’s leadership. The KKU welcoming party included Assistant Professor Dr. Araya Chaoruangrit, Dean of the Faculty of Technology, along with other faculty deans and the Head of the Department of Geotechnology.

The visiting delegation, led by Dr. Kajornsak Faungnawakij, a researcher from NSTDA’s National Nanotechnology Center, toured the research facilities at the Department of Geotechnology and the Department of Biotechnology.

The primary purpose of the visit was to exchange knowledge and assess the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of KKU’s CCUS-related research. The information gathered will contribute to a national database of technologies for carbon capture, utilization, and storage. This database is considered a critical mechanism for supporting Thailand’s strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and move towards its Net Zero target.

The TCCA project identified KKU’s Faculty of Technology as a key institution with significant potential, citing its readiness in terms of knowledge, research, and skilled personnel. The faculty is seen as capable of playing an important role in advancing the country’s research and innovation in the CCUS field.
