BANGKOK – The Bank of Thailand (BOT) and the Faculty of Economics at Khon Kaen University (KKU) will co-host the 2026 “Setthatat” economic paper competition alongside the National Conference of Economists (NCE). The joint event, scheduled for July 1-2, 2026, invites undergraduate and graduate students from across the country to submit their research.
The call for papers is open from 19 March to 30 April 2026. The “Setthatat” project aims to foster research and academic writing skills among university students, providing a national platform for presenting their work to leading economists and experts. It also seeks to strengthen academic networks between institutions and encourage the development of new economic knowledge on contemporary issues.

“The Faculty of Economics at Khon Kaen University is honored to co-host this year’s ‘Setthatat’ project with the Bank of Thailand, the country’s leading financial institution,” said Associate Professor Dr. Sutin Wianwiwat, Dean of the Faculty of Economics. “This collaboration is a significant step in strengthening the quality of economic research among Thai students to meet international standards.”
The Dean extended an invitation to all undergraduate and graduate students nationwide to participate. “The ‘Setthatat’ stage is a valuable opportunity for students to develop their research, writing, and presentation skills at a national level, which will be a crucial experience for their future studies and careers,” he added.
This year’s competition features seven thematic categories for paper submissions:
- Sustainable Economy, Local Communities, Environment, and Agriculture
- Labor Economics, Human Resources, and Industry
- ASEAN, the Global Economy, and International Trade and Investment
- Political Economy, Institutions, Governance, and Behavioral Economics
- Monetary and Fiscal Policy, and Macroeconomics
- Creative Economy and Miscellaneous Topics
- Greater Mekong Subregion Economy and Contemporary Economic Issues (English Session)
The project timeline requires the submission of full papers by 30 April 2026. Presentations will take place on 1 July, with the winners announced and awards presented during the NCE on 2 July 2026.
