Peruvian Ambassador Visits Khon Kaen University to Strengthen Academic and Cultural Ties

Khon Kaen, Thailand – The Ambassador of Peru to Thailand, H.E. Ms. Cecilia Z. Galarreta Bazán, visited Khon Kaen University (KKU) to reinforce academic, linguistic, and cultural cooperation between the two nations.

The ambassador and her delegation met with university executives, led by Associate Professor Dr. Nawarat Wara-aswapati, Vice President for International Affairs. Key topics of discussion included student exchange programs, support for cooperative education projects, and strategies for expanding academic collaboration, with a particular focus on the social sciences.

The Peruvian Embassy expressed its commitment to promoting Peruvian culture and international affairs, stating its willingness to welcome more KKU students into its various activities and projects in the future.

As part of the visit, a screening of the Peruvian film “A World for Julius” was held. The event provided students and other attendees with an opportunity to learn about Peruvian culture and the Spanish language through cinema, fostering cross-cultural understanding and practical language exposure.

Khon Kaen University has maintained an ongoing partnership with the Peruvian Embassy, notably through its cooperative education program. Since 2017, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has sent 19 students from its Spanish program to intern at the embassy and related agencies, with the program running through 2025.

This visit marks a significant step in advancing the partnership between Khon Kaen University and the Republic of Peru in academics, culture, Spanish language studies, and the international development of its students.
