KHON KAEN, THAILAND – On 30 March 2026, the Office of General Education at Khon Kaen University welcomed a delegation of 22 representatives from the University of Phayao. The full-day study visit, held from 08:30 to 15:30 hrs at the Sarasin Room, Sirikunakorn Building, was organised to facilitate the exchange of experience and knowledge on the management of general education courses through special lectures, presentations, and on-site observations.
The morning session began with a formal welcoming ceremony, followed by a series of special lectures on key topics. These included the revised Policy on General Education Learning Management of Khon Kaen University 2025, instructional design and learning outcomes for general education subjects, organisational management, and the administration of English language courses within the general education curriculum. The session concluded with a productive knowledge exchange between the two universities.

Assistant Professor Anucha Somabut, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for Education and Acting Director of the Office of General Education, delivered a warm welcome address. “We extend a heartfelt welcome to the delegation from the University of Phayao. The Office of General Education is deeply honoured to have this opportunity to share our experiences and exchange knowledge on general education curriculum management. We are confident that creating this shared learning space today will mark the beginning of a sustainable partnership, leading to the concurrent advancement of general education quality at both institutions for the ultimate benefit of our students and Thai society.”

In her reply, Assistant Professor Dr. Chonthida Thepsinlap, Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Phayao, expressed her profound gratitude. “We extend our sincere thanks to Khon Kaen University for its warm hospitality and for providing this invaluable opportunity for our delegation. The University of Phayao has long admired the development and progress of Khon Kaen University, particularly its innovative approaches and best practices in general education, which serve as an excellent model for study and application. We are firmly committed to applying the valuable knowledge, experience, and insights gained today to develop and elevate the quality of our own general education programme, aiming to produce graduates who excel in both academia and ethics, ready to become a vital force in driving our society and nation forward.”

The afternoon session, held at Room GL218 in the Phot Sarasin Building, focused on the practical implementation of general education teaching and learning. Presentations covered a variety of activities and instructional methods, including the use of the KKU Digiclass system for general education courses and the corresponding evaluation processes. The day concluded with a final question-and-answer session and a tour of the general education teaching facilities.

This study visit reflects the strong spirit of collaboration and knowledge sharing among higher education institutions to enhance the quality of general education, which is fundamental to developing well-rounded graduates. The initiative aligns with the university’s mission to produce high-calibre graduates prepared for the 21st-century workforce. This exchange of expertise is expected to benefit the development of more effective general education systems at both universities, ensuring they genuinely meet the needs of students and society.
