KKU Faculty of Law Expands “RestauLaw Model” to National Stage, Driving “Justainability” for Sustainable Economic Justice

Following the success of its academic service initiative, “RestauLaw: Creative Law for Restaurant Entrepreneurs,” Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Law is extending its impact through a significant new collaboration. The Institute of Economic and International Trade Law (IEIL) co-hosted an exhibition and learning activities as part of the “Defining Your Food Business DNA (FBD)” programme, organised by Phuket City Development Co., Ltd. (PKCD) in partnership with IDIQ by Thinkberry.

On 24–25 March 2026, the IEIL joined forces with PKCD and IDIQ by Thinkberry to present the FBD programme. The initiative was designed to cultivate “capital with a heart” and enhance legal understanding among entrepreneurs in the food industry.

The curriculum prominently featured the concept of “Justainability,” which was clearly illustrated in a lecture titled, “Recipe DNA: Laws Restaurants Should Know.” The session was delivered by Assistant Professor Tanrat Khunnen, Head of the IEIL’s Learning Centre.

This event provided a platform to elevate food entrepreneurs to an international standard through the Food Business DNA programme. A key objective was to support the transition from traditional food businesses to enterprises with modern management systems, thereby laying a crucial foundation for strengthening the economic infrastructure of Phuket.

This collaboration marks a significant step for the Faculty of Law, Khon Kaen University, in extending its role into the business and community sectors. It focused on promoting and raising awareness of the development of integrated legal curricula tailored for entrepreneurs, directly addressing the contemporary needs of the food business industry.

Looking ahead, the IEIL plans to expand the RestauLaw model to other key economic cities across the country. Future developments will include creating an online platform, establishing a RestauLaw legal consultancy network, and developing collaborative international curricula. This academic service activity was not merely a change of venue; it was a demonstration that law can be a creative tool to reduce economic inequality, empower entrepreneurs, and genuinely elevate the Thai food industry.
