The College of Local Administration will co-host a major conference with the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Khon Kaen, reinforcing the university’s commitment to international collaboration for social progress.
On Wednesday, 13 May 2026, from 14:30 to 16:40 hrs, the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Khon Kaen held a press conference at The Heritage Grand Khon Kaen Hotel & Convention. The event was held to announce the upcoming China-Thailand Poverty Management Cooperation Conference, scheduled for Friday, 12 June 2026.
Khon Kaen University’s College of Local Administration (COLA KKU) participated as a key partner in this event. Assistant Professor Sirisak Laochankham, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Local Administration, represented the President of Khon Kaen University as a co-host representative for the Thai side. He was accompanied by COLA executives, staff, and representatives from the International Affairs Division of Khon Kaen University. Also in attendance were the Governor of Khon Kaen Province, the Consul General of China in Khon Kaen, the Vice Governor of Buriram Province, the Chairman of the Khon Kaen Chamber of Commerce, and the Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries Khon Kaen Chapter.
During the press conference, organisers presented an update on the preparations for the conference and exchanged perspectives on poverty management strategies, local development, and strengthening the partnership between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China, with a particular focus on Thailand’s northeastern region. A question-and-answer session with the media followed, addressing details of the cooperation, Thailand’s experiences in poverty alleviation, and future collaborative directions, which underscored the strong relationship between the two nations in their joint efforts to sustainably improve people’s quality of life.
