The executive-meet-staff event outlines a four-year roadmap towards international accreditation and introduces a more user-friendly digital performance appraisal system.
On 26 June 2026, the Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University (KKU), hosted the “SC TALK: Executives Meet Staff” event as part of its ongoing organisational management efforts. The forum aimed to communicate the faculty’s strategic direction and ensure a smooth transition to its new performance evaluation framework. The event drew more than 80 participants, including department heads, faculty members, and support staff, who gathered at Wittayawiphas 1 Room in the Wittayawiphas Building, with additional staff attending via a Google Meet live stream.
Asst. Prof. Angkana Boonyued, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Science, opened the event by introducing the current executive team. The administration includes:
- Assoc. Prof. Katcharin Sirivong, Ph.D., Deputy Dean for Administration
- Prof. Supree Pinitsoontorn, Ph.D., Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation
- Assoc. Prof. Pimwadee Pornpongrungrueng, Ph.D., Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs
- Assoc. Prof. Somnuk Worawisith, Ph.D., Deputy Dean for Student Development and Alumni Relations
- Assoc. Prof. Thipatai Pongsart, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Administration
- Asst. Prof. Yaowapha Treekamol, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Enterprise and Social Development
- Sukhum Ruangchai, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for International Affairs
- Assoc. Prof. Weenakor Eio-sanooruk, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Corporate Communications
During the session, the Dean delivered a keynote presentation entitled “The Management Direction of the Faculty of Science,” charting a roadmap for the next four years. A primary milestone is to bring the faculty’s organisational quality up to international standards by raising its performance score from the current 300 points to 450 points, to achieve the Thailand Quality Class Plus (TQC Plus) accreditation within four years. This advancement rests on four key pillars:
- Education: To produce highly competent graduates aligned with AUN-QA standards.
- Research and Innovation: To generate frontier research and catalyse commercial innovation.
- Society and Environment: To progress towards a “Green Faculty” and support community ecosystems through the Plant Genetic Conservation Project Under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (RSPG).
- Safety First: To achieve a target of zero laboratory accidents in accordance with international protocols.
The strategy aims to nurture a close-knit, collaborative corporate culture internally while generating a meaningful impact on broader society.
Assoc. Prof. Katcharin Sirivong, Ph.D., Deputy Dean for Administration, subsequently clarified the guidelines for the 1/2027 performance evaluation cycle and unveiled the “SCi PAS” performance appraisal system. Scheduled to replace the legacy “SCi Office” platform from the 2027 fiscal year onwards, the new system delivers stronger data security and a more user-friendly interface. For academic staff, the restructured Performance Agreements (PA) will map directly to the faculty’s three Strategic Objectives (SO): Teaching Load (SO1), Research and Innovation (SO2), and Academic Services (SO3). This streamlined system minimises administrative redundancy through intuitive indicator selection and supports digital signatures. It shows how individual workloads fulfil institutional key performance indicators, such as targeting a Social Return on Investment (SROI) value exceeding twice the utilised budget for academic services.
The town hall concluded with a Q&A session, providing a platform for personnel to voice feedback and seek clarification on various matters, including research evaluation criteria and budgetary allocations for scientific instrument repairs. The SCi PAS system is scheduled for an official rollout at the end of July. The event concluded with a souvenir raffle, fostering a warm, collegial atmosphere that reinforced a sense of unity among the Faculty of Science community.
