Khon Kaen University (KKU) held an award ceremony for its Good Practice and Best Practice projects for the Fiscal Year 2026. The ceremony honoured outstanding initiatives that demonstrate excellence in governance and operational efficiency. A total of 34 projects were recognised, comprising 18 award-winning initiatives and 16 projects that received certificates of participation.
The event ran on 2 July 2026, from 09:00 to 11:00, at the Sarasin Conference Room, 2nd Floor, Sirikunakorn Building, Office of the President. Mr. Surapon Petchvra, Vice Chairman of the University Council, Distinguished Expert Member, and Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee, presided over the ceremony. Mrs. Natsamol Tanakulrungsarit, Vice President for Legal and Communications and Secretary of the Corporate Governance Committee, delivered the project report. Members of the Corporate Governance Committee, university executives, and personnel from various faculties and departments attended the gathering.
Mr. Surapon Petchvra, Vice Chairman of the University Council, stated:
“The Khon Kaen University Council places the utmost importance on promoting and supporting operations that adhere to good governance principles. To ensure that the university’s management aligns with good public governance guidelines, the Council established the Corporate Governance Committee to formulate policies, design systems, and put organisational oversight into practice. Our ultimate objective is to cultivate Khon Kaen University as an open, transparent, accountable, and socially responsible institution that prioritises the public interest, while fostering an organisational culture rooted in morality, ethics, and sustainable development. This award ceremony does not merely honour outstanding initiatives; it serves as a strong incentive, encouraging departments to continue developing good practices. Applying good governance principles to management will lead to efficient, effective, transparent, and verifiable operations. These successful initiatives can also be scaled up as models for other internal and external agencies, raising the university’s overall administrative standards.”
This award ceremony does not merely honour outstanding initiatives; it serves as a powerful incentive and morale booster for various departments to continuously develop good practices. Applying good governance principles to management will lead to efficient, effective, transparent, and verifiable operations. Mrs. Natsamol Tanakulrungsarit, Vice President for Legal and Communications, reported on the project’s background and achievements:
“The Corporate Governance Committee was appointed by the University Council to establish systems, mechanisms, measures, and policies for good organisational governance. This ensures that university operations strictly adhere to good governance and public administration principles. KKU has pursued these governance initiatives every year. The current framework encompasses two primary components: firstly, driving projects under the good organisational governance policy using ten core governance principles to foster efficient and transparent management; and secondly, presenting the Good Practice and Best Practice awards to honour projects that align with good governance, support departmental missions, and correspond with university strategies. The evaluation process was divided into three academic clusters: Science and Technology, Health Sciences, and Humanities and Social Sciences. The project aims to encourage departments to recognise the importance of developing operational practices in line with governance standards, select outstanding achievements for recognition, and inspire innovations that benefit the university, society, and the nation.”

Among the prominent recipients was Mrs. Sineenart Mungmanitmongkol, a Professional Nurse from the Case Management Unit, Specialised Nursing and Nursing Service Support Section, Nursing Division, Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine. Serving as the Secretary of the Integrated Epilepsy Research Group, she represented the project titled “Khon Kaen University Integrated Epilepsy Research Group,” which won the First Prize for Best Practice in the Health Sciences cluster. She shared:
“Our team strives to build correct public understanding that epilepsy is treatable and patients can lead normal lives with continuous care. Our clinic has integrated a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and pharmacists, and has consistently built educational networks for over a decade. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we developed a video-call consultation platform and implemented home medicine delivery via postal services. This innovation reduced patients’ travel costs from approximately 2,000–3,000 baht per visit to just 100 baht. We currently manage over 500 epilepsy patients in our system. We are deeply proud of this institutional recognition and remain committed to further improving patient care.”
Another notable achiever was Mr. Sompote Thinpru, Assistant Director for Customer Service Strategy at the Office of Academic Administration and Development, whose initiatives secured two major accolades: the First Prize for Best Practice in the Science and Technology cluster for the “KAD: KKU Academic Document via Automated Kiosk” project, and the First Prize for Good Practice in the same cluster for the “Pilot Development Platform for Traceability and Anti-Counterfeiting of Digital Academic Documents for Grade 12 Schools in the Northeast” project. Mr. Thinpru remarked:
“Previously, educational qualification verification relied on manual document checks, which were prone to errors and lacked immediate verification. Our information technology team at the Office of Academic Administration and Development developed an online system connecting secondary schools across the Northeast and the rest of the country. Prior to implementation, we conducted field surveys to gather direct feedback from school directors and guidance counselors to maximise accuracy. Additionally, we developed the KAD automated kiosk to resolve counter service delays, reducing waiting times from 3–4 hours per person to just 2 minutes. Five kiosks have been installed across strategic locations, including the Office of Academic Administration and Development, the Student Development Division, the Library, the Faculty of Medicine, and the Nong Khai Campus. These awards stimulate personnel and departments to showcase their potential and share outstanding practices with other units. Notably, our office is regularly invited to share this expertise with external universities.”
The ceremony featured video presentations outlining the objectives of the scheme and the accomplishments of the winning entries. The five Best Practice awards were presented by Mr. Surapon Petchvra, while the 13 Good Practice awards were presented by Mr. Sukit Sirinorrakul, Chairman of the University Promotion Affairs Committee, and Mr. Chaloemchai Wongnakphet, Advisor to the Committee. The 16 certificates of participation were presented by Professor Wongsa Laohasiriwong, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Representative of University Executives, alongside the Vice President for Legal and Communications. The event concluded with a group photograph of all award recipients across the three academic disciplines, reflecting KKU’s continued commitment to institutional excellence and social responsibility.
