Khon Kaen University (KKU) is advancing a comprehensive upgrade of its curriculums at all levels to keep pace with global changes in the artificial intelligence (AI) era. Powered by the “KKU Education LandscapeInside,” also known as the “KKU Curriculum Intelligence Platform,” this in-depth data analytics tool helps executives, faculties, and programme directors gain a comprehensive view of curriculum development trends. It channels policy-level data into classroom practice under the concept “From Council to Classroom,” nurturing graduates equipped to meet future demands.
Amid rapid changes in education and AI technology, KKU is taking a major step to elevate all university curriculums to fit the new global context. The KKU Education Landscape platform serves as an advanced analytics tool supporting curriculum design and revision to align with global trends, learner demands, and essential future skills.
Asst. Prof. Denpong Soodphakdee, Ph.D., Vice President for Education and Digital., Khon Kaen University, said that this initiative reflects the high value the KKU University Council places on “data” as the cornerstone of policy decisions. After reviewing the system’s analytics, the Council agreed that the data is highly comprehensive, multidimensional, and qualitative. The Council therefore wanted the data to move beyond the policy level and be applied practically across all tiers of educational management. This core idea inspired the phrase “From Council to Classroom,” emphasising that what the Council prioritises today must be passed down to university executives, faculty deans, and curriculum committees to ensure shared awareness and practical implementation.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Denpong explained that university-level executives will see the complete picture, while faculty executives will see data specific to their faculties. Meanwhile, instructors and curriculum committees can access granular details of their respective programmes via the Program Landscape—the heart of this platform. This ensures every level utilises the same dataset for analysis, decision-making, and setting development directions more effectively. KKU officially launched the system on 15 June, allowing all relevant administrative tiers to log in and systematically assess the data for analytical accuracy and completeness, and provide feedback for future system and curriculum enhancement.
He added that the core message the university wishes to convey to programme directors is that designing or revising curriculums today is no easy task, given the pace of global change, especially the emergence of AI affecting almost every discipline, profession, and industry. While many programmes have attempted to analyse and adapt independently, they may face limitations regarding data completeness.
The university is therefore offering practical support through the KKU Education LandscapeInside system, which helps retrieve and benchmark data from universities and curriculums worldwide to see how each discipline adapts to AI. For instance, in a Biology curriculum, the system can analyse how AI should be integrated. For a Dentistry programme, the system can highlight international trends and examples of what additional skills or knowledge should be incorporated.
Beyond offering international benchmark data, the system provides actionable recommendations adapted to KKU’s specific context, factoring in staff readiness, resources, and existing potential. This helps programmes clearly identify which courses need adjustment, where AI skills or content should be integrated, and how the curriculum structure should be designed for the future. This is not merely the launch of a new data system, but the establishment of a new curriculum management mechanism where policy data flows directly into operations, bridging the gap between “seeing trends” and “taking action.”
Asst. Prof. Dr. Denpong also noted that this initiative reflects the University Council’s commitment to KKU’s core mission: developing Thai citizens and preparing learners to handle a fast-changing world. University executives, faculty leaders, and programme owners do not just hold management duties; they must collectively interpret data, analyse situations, and have the courage to step out of their comfort zones to ensure the education provided remains valuable and relevant to the future.

He emphasised that changes in the AI era do not happen slowly but occur rapidly and continuously; curriculum upgrades can no longer wait. Having a tool like KKU Education LandscapeInside serves as an important starting point to help KKU drive this transformation systematically, accurately, and with unified organisational direction.

Ultimately, what the university hopes to instil within the KKU community is the awareness of data importance, the Council’s care, and the necessity of change at all levels. The goal of curriculum development is not just making programmes “modern,” but ensuring KKU students possess high potential, are ready to compete, adapt, and grow sustainably in the future world, Asst.
