The collaborative initiative equipped school administrators and personnel with updated legal frameworks and standard operating procedures to ensure transparent public procurement.
The Office of Academic Service at Khon Kaen University (KKU), in collaboration with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), has concluded the third and final edition of the “Anti-Corruption Procurement Network and Knowledge Promotion Programme for Educational Institutions”. Funded by the National Anti-Corruption Fund, the initiative established robust anti-corruption surveillance networks and strengthened regulatory compliance within northeastern schools.
The comprehensive training programme ran from 1 to 3 July 2026 at the Sunee Grand Hotel in Ubon Ratchathani Province. The event brought together school administrators, heads of procurement, and financial officers to engage in intensive academic sessions and practical workshops led by national experts and regional auditing bodies.
Asst. Prof. Surapol Nesusingh, Ph.D., Deputy Director for Lifelong Learning and Sustainability at the Office of Academic Service, presided over the opening ceremony. Asst. Prof. Surapol highlighted that while school staff bring clear professional expertise to teaching, managing state procurement is far more challenging: frequent regulatory updates raise the risk of unintentional non-compliance. To address this, expert-led sessions were delivered by Mr. Somsak Phusakul, former Deputy Director-General of the Comptroller General’s Department, alongside representatives from the State Audit Office of Ubon Ratchathani Province and the provincial NACC office. Together, they guided participants in designing transparent Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The training eased school executives’ concerns about accidentally breaching procurement regulations. Participants, including school directors Mr. Panthai Phunlaokeaw and Mrs. Kanyasorn Boranrat, affirmed that the practical insights gained would help them monitor school procurement more closely and implement robust anti-corruption guidelines within their respective institutions.
This initiative reflects Khon Kaen University’s commitment to social contribution, organisational development, and lifelong learning. By acting as a vital bridge between educational institutions and regulatory oversight bodies, KKU continues to foster sustainable, transparent networks that elevate governance standards and safeguard public interests across the region.
