Khon Kaen University Economics Faculty Signs LOI with Universiti Malaya to Expand International Cooperation

KHON KAEN – The Faculty of Economics at Khon Kaen University (KKU) signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Asia-Europe Institute at Universiti Malaya (AEI-UM) on July 1, 2026, marking a significant step toward enhancing international academic collaboration between Thailand and Malaysia.

The signing ceremony was hosted at KKU, where Associate Professor Dr. Sutin Wianwiwat, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, welcomed Professor Dato’ Dr. Rajah Rasiah, Executive Director of AEI-UM. The agreement aims to foster long-term academic partnerships, build international research networks, and facilitate knowledge exchange between the two institutions.

“Signing this LOI with the Asia-Europe Institute is a major milestone for our faculty in expanding our international academic network,” said Dean Sutin. He highlighted AEI-UM’s renowned expertise in economics and Asia-Europe relations, noting that the partnership will elevate the faculty’s research capabilities, teaching, and staff development to meet international standards.

The initial cooperation framework outlines several key areas, including joint research projects, academic publications, and exchange programmes for faculty, researchers, and students. The institutions also plan to co-host conferences, policy seminars, and capacity-building training programmes.

This LOI serves as a foundational agreement, with both universities intending to develop a formal Memorandum of Agreement (MOU) that will translate the partnership into concrete collaborative activities and support sustainable international education and research.
