The Faculty of Education at Khon Kaen University (KKU), in collaboration with the Division of Security and Safety, Office of the President, and Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station, organised a cybercrime awareness training programme for KKU students. The event ran on 9 July 2026 at the Saisuree Chutikul Conference Hall, Faculty of Education. The programme aimed to enhance students’ knowledge, awareness, and self-protection skills against technology-related crimes, including online scams, impersonation, investment fraud, money transfer scams, and unauthorised access to personal data.
Assoc. Prof. Issara Kanjug, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Education, delivered welcoming remarks and emphasised that cyber threats now appear in many forms. He noted that risks involving personal information, online deception, and the misuse of digital data may cause students to become victims without realising it. Recognising the urgency of the issue, the Faculty of Education organised this programme to equip students with essential knowledge and practical awareness to protect themselves in daily digital life.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chupong Thongkamsamut, Vice President for Physical and Environmental Affairs, KKU, also addressed the participants. He highlighted the importance of understanding cyber threats, learning how to identify warning signs, and looking out for friends or peers who may be at risk. He also cited real cases involving students, which participants could use as practical lessons and preventive guidelines.
The training session was led by Police Colonel Preecha Kengsarikij, Deputy Commander of Khon Kaen Provincial Police, together with Police Major Pradit Wongsakul, Inspector (Investigation), Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station, and a team of officers from the same station. The speakers shared practical knowledge on current cybercrime patterns, safe digital media use, prevention strategies, and appropriate steps to take when encountering suspicious online activities or becoming a victim of cybercrime.
This initiative reflects the Faculty of Education’s commitment to promoting digital literacy, cyber safety, and proactive protection among students, enabling them to use technology responsibly, confidently, and safely in today’s rapidly changing digital environment.
