On 9 July 2026, the Faculty of Economics at Khon Kaen University, led by its Dean, Associate Professor Suthin Wianwiwat, formally welcomed a delegation of executives from Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST), People’s Republic of China. The welcoming committee included Assistant Professor Prasert Wichitnopparat, Associate Dean for Research, Innovation, Academic Services, and Corporate Communications, alongside Assistant Professor Thanyamas Sarungboommee, Ph.D., Head of the Department. The visit and bilateral discussions convened at the Faculty of Economics, Khon Kaen University.
Mr. Yang Chaojun, Dean of the School of International Education, led the visiting delegation from KUST. He was accompanied by Mr. Peng Dinghong, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Management and Economics; Ms. Xu Ying, Director of the General Office at the School of International Education; Ms. Tang Jiechen, Faculty Assistant at the Faculty of Management and Economics; and Mr. Yu Shitao, Secretary of the Faculty of Management and Economics.
This visit primarily aimed to exchange institutional information about KUST and the Faculty of Economics at KKU, while exploring avenues for multi-dimensional academic cooperation. Key areas of discussion included collaborative curriculum development, student internship frameworks, short-term and long-term student exchange programmes, joint degree offerings, and joint research initiatives between the academic staff of both institutions.
Associate Professor Wianwiwat stated that welcoming the KUST executive team provided an excellent opportunity for both institutions to exchange perspectives on educational management and research. He noted that KUST holds notable strengths in management and economics in Southern China, which complements the development goals of the Faculty of Economics at Khon Kaen University. He added that collaboration across instructional delivery, student exchanges, and joint research would be highly beneficial for elevating the capabilities of students and personnel from both universities.
This discussion marks an important step in strengthening the international cooperation network of the Faculty of Economics at Khon Kaen University and Kunming University of Science and Technology. By fostering advancements in teaching, research, and intellectual exchange, the partnership is set to generate mutual academic benefits for the staff and students of both institutions.
