On Monday, 13 July 2026, the International Affairs Division at Khon Kaen University (KKU) organised the SMBC Bangkok Branch Scholarship Awarding Ceremony. The event convened at Meeting Room 7 on the 2nd floor of the Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University.

The ceremony honoured undergraduate students with exceptional academic records, recognising their academic excellence and supporting their pursuit of higher education. During the ceremony, Mr. Naoyuki Ichikawa, Managing Director of the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Bangkok Branch, presented the certificates to the recipients. Assistant Professor Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for International Affairs, delivered an address expressing the university’s gratitude. The scholarship recipients then offered their own appreciation speeches.

Speaking on behalf of Khon Kaen University, Assistant Professor Topark-Ngarm extended her sincere thanks to SMBC Bangkok Branch for its continuous educational support. She emphasised that these scholarships provide vital financial assistance while inspiring students to pursue academic excellence. The Assistant to the President expressed her hope that the collaboration between KKU and SMBC Bangkok Branch will continue to flourish, creating further opportunities for students.

Among the recipients was Mr Phuriphat Phanada, a student from the 3+1 Programme at the Faculty of Economics, Khon Kaen University. His selection reflects the academic dedication of the university’s students and underscores SMBC’s commitment to advancing human resource development through international partnerships.
