The Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences at Khon Kaen University receives a certificate of recognition at the national level for its excellence in integrating rational drug use principles into its healthcare curriculum.
BANGKOK — From 8 to 9 July 2026, the Division of Physical Therapy within the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences at Khon Kaen University (KKU) was awarded the “Good” level certificate for serving as an Exemplary Educational Institution in the Instruction of Rational Drug Use (RDU) for 2026. The accolade was determined by the Working Group on the Production and Development of Human Resources for Rational Drug Use, under the Subcommittee for the Promotion of Rational Drug Use of the Ministry of Public Health.
Assistant Professor Atipong Pimdee, Ph.D., Deputy Head of the Division of Physical Therapy, represented the division in receiving the honorary plaque at the RDU Knowledge Fair 2026. The ceremony was held at the Centara Life Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre Chaeng Watthana in Bangkok.
This award is bestowed upon academic institutions demonstrating exceptional performance in instructional management and human resource development on rational drug use. This initiative helps produce healthcare professionals equipped with the knowledge and understanding necessary to administer medication safely and appropriately, to the maximum benefit of patients. The selection process evaluated applications from nationwide institutions across nine health science disciplines, encompassing more than 100 academic departments.
Assistant Professor Pimdee said the recognition is a source of pride for the Division of Physical Therapy and an encouragement for continued instructional development. He noted that the division prioritises integrating rational drug use principles into its curriculum, enabling students to understand and apply this knowledge in multidisciplinary practice. This approach leads to safer, higher-quality patient care.
Professor Taweesak Janyacharoen, Ph.D., added that promoting education in rational drug use is essential to advancing the national healthcare system. When educational institutions graduate individuals competent in appropriate drug utilisation, this helps address problems associated with irrational drug consumption, enhances public safety, and supports the sustainable development of healthcare services.
This achievement reflects the capacity and collaborative efforts of the faculty members, staff, and students of the Division of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences at Khon Kaen University.
