KKU Advances Admissions Strategies for Academic Year 2027, Integrating Innovation and Technology to Enhance Student Experience

Khon Kaen University (KKU) is refining its undergraduate recruitment strategy for the academic year 2027, drawing on technological innovation to widen educational access and deepen student engagement. The Office of Academic Administration and Development recently hosted a strategic seminar titled “Enhancing Undergraduate Admissions Strategies for Khon Kaen University” to build recruitment frameworks that keep pace with evolving educational trends and national workforce demands.

The seminar ran on 10 July 2026 at the Orchid Ballroom, on the second floor of the Heritage Grand Hotel Khon Kaen, drawing together university executives, deans, and faculty representatives to share insights, review recent admissions data, and jointly design recruitment processes centred on student experience and engagement. The overarching aim is twofold: to help prospective students choose academic pathways suited to their potential, and to ensure graduates meet employers’ recruitment requirements nationwide.

Asst. Prof. Piyawat Saipan, Ph.D., Director of the Office of Academic Administration and Development, opened the session with a lecture titled “Performance Summary of Khon Kaen University Admissions for Academic Year 2026 and Preparations for Academic Year 2027”. He presented a comprehensive overview of the previous year’s enrolment data, reviewed standard operating procedures for portfolio-based selection rounds, and outlined the criteria for interviews. He also stressed the need to reinforce ethical guidelines and fraud-prevention measures and to finalise the academic year 2027 admissions calendar, ensuring a selection process that is transparent, merit-based, and fair.

In a related presentation, Asst. Prof. Anucha Somabut, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for Education, spoke on “Public Relations Guidelines for Academic Year 2027”. His remarks focused on proactive communication strategies, using data-driven analytics and digital channels to reach prospective students, parents, and secondary schools. The approach aims to strengthen KKU’s institutional branding and distinguishing strengths, helping digital-native students make informed higher-education decisions.

The seminar also included a technical session, “NETSAT Update: Testing Directions to Elevate Student Admissions”, delivered by Dr. Chayachon Chuanon, Director of the North-East Thailand Education Scholastic Aptitude Test Center (NETSAT). Dr. Chuanon outlined ongoing system developments designed to align testing methodologies with 21st-century competency assessments, ensuring that student evaluations reflect genuine academic potential through standardised national metrics. Alongside this, Mr. Atisan Srirattanaprapan, Head of Admissions and Marketing at the Office of Academic Administration and Development, introduced the “KKU e-Portfolio” platform. This digital tool systematically compiles student achievements, allowing admissions committees to assess applicants holistically rather than relying solely on examination scores.

The seminar closed with an open forum in which faculty representatives exchanged recommendations on policy improvements, selection workflows, and public relations. By embedding digital infrastructure into its admissions system, Khon Kaen University aims to broaden access to high-quality education, meeting both student aspirations and its wider educational mission.
