The international collaborative programme aims to strengthen research capacities and foster academic networks in Southeast Asia.
The Faculty of Dentistry at Khon Kaen University (KKU) recently organised a workshop titled “From Evidence to Excellence: A 2-Day Intensive in Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis for Oral Health Researchers”. Supported by the National Institute of Dental & Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) and the Fogarty International Center (FIC) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA, the initiative aimed to enhance research capabilities and build international academic networks in oral health.
Held from 7 to 8 July 2026 at the Faculty of Dentistry, KKU, the workshop attracted more than 40 participants. The attendees included faculty members, dentists, doctoral and postgraduate students, and researchers from KKU, alongside participants from various academic institutions and external organisations keen on applying these advanced research methodologies to oral health studies.


The workshop featured distinguished experts who shared their expertise and practical research experience. The speaker line-up included Prof. Dr. May Chun Mei Wong from The University of Hong Kong; Prof. Dr. Waranuch Pitiphat from KKU, who serves as the Director of the Clinical and Public Health Research in Oral Health Training Program for Southeast Asia; and Dr. Mattana Kasatrakat from Thammasat University, one of the primary collaborating institutions of the training programme.








On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Wong also visited the Faculty of Dentistry from 7 to 9 July 2026 to discuss future academic and research collaborations. Asst. Prof. Ajiravudh Subarnbhesaj, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, welcomed her and led a tour of the faculty’s educational environment, research facilities, and learning resources. She also met with Assoc. Prof. Nawarat Wara-aswapati, D.D.S., D.M.Sc., Vice President for International Affairs, to explore further opportunities for international academic partnerships.
The Faculty of Dentistry thanked all speakers, participants, and collaborating partners for their contributions to the initiative’s success. Moving forward, the faculty remains committed to building academic collaborations, advancing oral health research, and pursuing sustainable educational excellence.
