KKU Partners with National Savings Fund to Host Financial Survival Seminar for Gen Z

The collaborative initiative aims to instil financial discipline and empower students with practical planning skills for long-term economic resilience.

Khon Kaen University (KKU), through the Division of Student Affairs and Innovation Commercialisation, collaborated with the National Savings Fund (NSF) to organise an educational seminar on financial literacy, saving, and financial planning titled “Financial Survival for Gen Z in Crisis”. The seminar ran on Thursday, 6 August 2026, at 13:00 hrs, in Meeting Room 1 on the second floor of the Student Development and Alumni Relations Division, and aimed to build financial discipline among students while preparing them to become high-quality graduates. Assoc. Prof. Prapansak Chaveerach, D.V.M., Ph.D., Assistant to the President for Student Affairs and Innovation Commercialisation, presided over the opening ceremony, which was attended by more than 200 executive officers, faculty members, staff, and students.

The workshop featured guest speakers Dr. Rathakarn Vichaidit and Mr. Thewan Chanhom, Senior Officers from the Savings Promotion Division of the National Savings Fund. Both experts shared practical financial management strategies to help students navigate today’s economic challenges.

Emphasising the significance of the event, Assoc. Prof. Chaveerach noted that Khon Kaen University is dedicated to developing graduates equipped with comprehensive competencies across academic performance, life skills, and desirable attributes. This vision rests on the “EGGS” student identity framework, which encompasses Entrepreneurial, Global-minded, Growth-oriented, and Sustainable-focused traits to prepare students for a rapidly changing world.

“Today’s workshop aligns directly with the development of the ‘E – Entrepreneurial’ dimension of our student identity, specifically E3: Financial and Accounting Management,” stated Assoc. Prof. Chaveerach. “This aspect focuses on equipping students with the knowledge to manage and control their expenditures systematically, methodically, and with maximum utility.”

This initiative forms part of the ongoing mission under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), the National Savings Fund (NSF), and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The joint effort seeks to foster financial literacy, cultivate saving habits, and build risk immunity among students—serving as a critical foundation for a high quality of life. Participating students are expected to apply the insights gained to their personal finances during their studies and future careers, helping them grow into self-reliant, socially responsible graduates with lasting financial stability.
