KKU executives pay homage and express profound royal gratitude at the Grand Palace.

On 6 August 2026, at 19:00 hrs, Khon Kaen University was granted royal permission to host the daily royal funeral prayer rites (Sut Phra Abhidhamma) for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall, located within the Grand Palace.The ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, alongside members of the University Council and senior executives. Eight royal monks from Wat Anongkaram in Bangkok and Wat Pa Mok in Ang Thong Province chanted the solemn funeral prayers in honour of Her Majesty.   

After the funeral prayer rites concluded, Assoc. Prof. Charnchai and the KKU delegation proceeded to Phiman Rattaya Throne Hall, within the Grand Palace to pay homage before the royal remains of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, the Princess Rajasarinisiribajra.

Being granted royal permission to host these funeral prayer rites represents an incomparable royal grace and a profound honour for the entire university community, giving KKU leaders and representatives a significant opportunity to demonstrate their utmost loyalty and express their deep, everlasting gratitude for Her Majesty’s benevolent contributions to the nation.

This solemn participation underscores Khon Kaen University’s steadfast commitment to honouring the Royal House of Thailand and upholding its civic and institutional duty to preserve revered national traditions, reinforcing the university’s enduring connection to the monarchy and society.
