Khon Kaen University organised a special annual influenza vaccination service for its students and staff members, free of charge, from 19 to 20 August 2026, between 09:30 and 15:00 hrs. The two-day event ran at the 1st-floor hall of the Sirikunakorn Building, Office of the President, Khon Kaen University. Service recipients were requested to present their national identification cards upon registration.
The service is part of the annual Influenza Vaccination Campaign, jointly operated by Srinagarind Hospital (under the Faculty of Medicine) and Khon Kaen University. The project aims to boost immunity and prevent widespread seasonal influenza transmission within the student and staff populations. This initiative is conducted annually prior to the rainy and winter seasons, when influenza infection rates typically peak.
Mrs. Saisamorn Leeladaphatrakul, Head of the Social Medicine Unit at Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, explained that influenza vaccination services receive continuous support from the government. This year, the government allocated the hospital 12,000 doses for high-risk patients and the general public, alongside approximately 6,000 doses designated for healthcare personnel, with administration starting in May. Because influenza outbreaks regularly occur during the rainy and winter seasons, timely vaccination is essential to prevent cluster infections, particularly among immunocompromised individuals, medical staff, and health sciences students. She added that organising the event at the Office of the President ensures convenient access for university members, expressing appreciation to Mrs. Natsamol Tanakulrungsarit, Vice President for Legal and Communications, for facilitating the venue and providing public relations support.
Ms. Chalisa Sangkomgumhang, a Supply Analyst from the Finance Division who received the vaccine, shared her appreciation for the convenient location near her workplace. She noted that she receives her flu shot from Srinagarind Hospital every year, feeling confident that the vaccine effectively builds immunity and protects her health during daily activities. She also encouraged students and colleagues alike to take advantage of the free vaccination service for their overall well-being.
Members of the KKU community interested in receiving the vaccine may visit the Happy Corner on the 1st floor of the KW Building, Srinagarind Hospital, which is open Monday to Thursday the following week.
