On 17–18 August 2026, the College of Computing at Khon Kaen University (KKU) hosted the “4th Computing Fair & CPKKU Open House” at the Witthayawiphas Building. Assoc Prof Sirapat Chiewchanwattana, PhD, Dean of the College of Computing, presided over the opening ceremony, while Assoc Prof Chanon Dechsupa, PhD, Associate Dean for Research and Innovation, delivered the project report. Designed as a national platform, the event aimed to demonstrate Thai youth’s capabilities in digital skills and computing innovation, encouraging students to transition from technology consumers to future creators. This year’s event attracted 459 participants across 207 teams from 18 provinces, alongside a large audience of faculty members, staff, students, teachers, and parents.
Assoc Prof Sirapat Chiewchanwattana, PhD, Dean of the College of Computing, highlighted the importance of the initiative in preparing young generations for rapid technological shifts. “This event serves as a vital platform reflecting the potential of Thai youth in digital technology,” stated Assoc Prof Chiewchanwattana, PhD. “In a rapidly evolving technological landscape, essential factors include knowledge, creativity, and the courage to apply technology to create innovations that address real-world challenges and benefit society.”
The two-day event offered a dual focus on competitive skills and academic orientation. Day one featured six primary digital skill competitions: Upper Secondary School Computer Programming, Web Programming Competition 2026, Cybersecurity (Capture the Flag), Geoinformatics Challenge (featuring GeoGuessr), Generative AI Prompt Engineering (“Prompt Pa”), and Upper Secondary School Project Competitions. Day two centered on the Computing Robot Contest 2026, an autonomous robotics arena featuring categories for participants aged under 14 and under 19. Concurrently, the CPKKU Open House provided students, teachers, and parents with in-depth insights into future-oriented curricula and personalised scholarship counselling.
Beyond the competitions, the event aimed to build a sustainable digital learning network among educational institutions across the nation, helping raise Thai educational standards to an international level.
