On 15 August 2026, the Khon Kaen University Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy (KKBS) organised a professional development workshop entitled “Communication for Work Motivation and Professional Coaching & Mentoring Skills Development.” Held at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Bangkok Menam Riverside in Bangkok, the event formed part of a broader capacity-building project to enhance operational efficiency among support personnel ahead of the AACSB re-accreditation assessment. Asst Prof Pongsutti Phuensane, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, presided over the opening ceremony. Dr Korsak Towattanagwanit, a faculty member from the School of Human Resource Development at the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), served as the keynote speaker.
The workshop focused on using communication to build workplace motivation and collaborative engagement. Key sessions included the “Motivation Starts with Communication” activity, which highlighted the impact of word choice, tone of voice, active listening, and constructive responses on team morale. Through the “Communicate to Connect Workshop,” participants practised empathy-driven dialogue to shift team dynamics from fault-finding toward collaborative problem-solving. Additionally, the “From Boss to Coach” module guided supervisors in transitioning from directive delegation to supportive coaching, clarifying the distinctions between instructing, teaching, advising, coaching, and mentoring to suit varying professional contexts.
Participants further refined their interpersonal competencies through “The Art of 1 on 1 Communication,” which emphasised deep listening, powerful questioning, and constructive feedback, supplemented by practical mini-coaching sessions based on real workplace scenarios. The “Professional Mentoring” session demonstrated how mentors can create a safe environment for experiential learning and self-directed professional growth. The workshop concluded with a hands-on “Coaching & Mentoring Practice Lab,” where attendees engaged in role-playing exercises as coaches/mentors, coachees/mentees, and observers to resolve common operational challenges, such as task delegation, cross-functional collaboration, and performance enhancement.
This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy to equipping its support staff with modern management and communication skills. By continually improving internal processes and aligning administrative operations with international educational standards, KKBS ensures its workforce remains fully prepared to drive the organisation toward sustained excellence in AACSB accreditation.
