On 21-22 August 2026, faculty members from the Interdisciplinary Faculty of Khon Kaen University took part in an international academic conference organised by the College of Tourism, Hue University, Vietnam, under the theme “Vietnamese Tourism Development: Innovation, Digital and Green Transformation.”
This participation builds upon the success of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for academic cooperation between Khon Kaen University and Hue University, aimed at exchanging knowledge and elevating the tourism industry in the ASEAN region toward sustainable growth.
This event showcased the expertise of faculty members from the Interdisciplinary Faculty of Khon Kaen University, who played significant roles across several sessions, including:
Keynote speech reflecting a thought-provoking perspective: Dr. Rodney Caldicott, lecturer in the Liberal Arts Program, Interdisciplinary Faculty, was honoured as a Keynote Speaker, delivering a highly anticipated lecture titled “If ‘Green’ and ‘Digital’ Are the Answers, Why Are Small Businesses Still Struggling?” The lecture drew considerable interest and prompted critical discussion among conference participants from across the region.
Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supattra Sroipetch from the Business Administration Program, Interdisciplinary Faculty, co-presented an Oral Presentation titled “ASEAN Tourism Development: Can Quality Assurance Enhance Enterprises’ Competitiveness?”, examining how quality assurance can strengthen the competitiveness of ASEAN tourism businesses.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sakarin Nonthapot from the Social Sciences Program, Interdisciplinary Faculty, served as a discussant, providing valuable feedback to researchers who presented their work at the conference.
The trip to Vietnam was not only an opportunity to present high-quality research but also served to strengthen academic networks, affirming the commitment of the Interdisciplinary Faculty of Khon Kaen University to developing people and knowledge that address global changes, encompassing innovation, digital transformation, and sustainability.
