On 28 August 2026 (2569 B.E.), a delegation from the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, travelled to the University of Law, Hue University, in Hue City, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, for a study visit and academic exchange. The delegation was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Suntaree Buchitchon, the Faculty’s Dean, and included faculty administrators, lecturers, staff, and students from the Master of Laws (LL.M.) programme. The visit aimed to strengthen relations and further develop cooperation in education, research, and academic advancement between the two institutions. The delegation from Khon Kaen University numbered 23 members.

During the visit, the delegation was welcomed by Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Vice Rector of the University of Law, Hue University, along with the university’s administrators, faculty members, staff, and students. After an exchange of welcoming remarks, each institution gave a presentation on its own work, sharing insights on educational management, research, and pathways for further cooperation.

Key activities during the study visit included discussions on five main topics: the development of academic cooperation, research, and innovation within the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS); a cooperative framework for AI and digital innovation, built on collaboration between universities and industry; the evolution of Vietnamese law amid economic and technological changes in the 21st century, particularly around AI, intellectual property, and economic crime; the Vietnamese legal system and restorative justice processes; and the preparation of legal education and the next generation of lawyers for the country’s ongoing transformation.

In addition, both parties exchanged views on future directions for developing academic and research cooperation, in line with the objectives of the study visit: to promote joint research, curriculum development, faculty and student exchange programmes, collaborative academic activities, and the establishment of regional academic networks, particularly within the Greater Mekong Subregion.

This study visit represents another significant opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Khon Kaen University, and the University of Law, Hue University. It also serves as a foundation for further collaboration in legal education, AI research, and innovation, as well as student and staff exchanges, in support of the long-term development of academic cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam.
