Khon Kaen University advances educational equity, supporting students with disabilities toward sustainable employment

Khon Kaen University (KKU), through the Disability Support Services (DSS) unit under the Student Development and Alumni Relations Division, has reaffirmed its commitment to educational equity and a better quality of life for students with disabilities. Ms. Pariyakon Sabai, Head of the Scholarship and Alumni Section, led a student delegation to the practical workshop titled “Developing Potential and Preparing for Employment for Students with Disabilities.” The event was held from 2 to 5 September 2026 at the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) in Bangkok, and The Navy House Hotel in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province.

The workshop aimed to broaden horizons and build career readiness among students with disabilities before entering the workforce. By connecting students directly with leading commercial enterprises, the initiative offered firsthand insights into modern working environments, accessible workplace design, and career rights. This helped participants enter the labour market with dignity and equal opportunity.

Over the four days, key activities included:

  • Industrial Site Visits: Participants visited Siam Michelin Co., Ltd. (Laem Chabang) to study inclusive workplace environments, accessible infrastructure, and employment models for persons with disabilities in a global industrial setting.
  • Corporate Career Insights: Attendees participated in a panel discussion titled “Opportunities and Employment in Leading Organisations,” featuring human-resources specialists from Home Product Center Public Company Limited and Central Group.
  • Legal and Professional Skill Development: Special lectures covered “Employment: Opportunities and Rights for Persons with Disabilities,” alongside case-study presentations on Section 35 employment models by representatives from Kasetsart University.
  • Career Preparation Workshops: Interactive sessions featured practical training titled “Techniques and Strategies: How to Secure Employment,” communication skill-building workshops, and networking activities at Nang Rong Beach and Dong Tan Bay.
  • Inclusive Workplace Networking: Representatives engaged in strategic discussions and lessons-learned sessions on advancing employment initiatives for graduates with disabilities alongside DSS network members from higher education institutions across Thailand.

This workshop is part of Khon Kaen University’s ongoing efforts to equip students with disabilities with professional confidence, market-relevant skills, and sustainable career pathways in leading national and international organisations.
