Ms Sureesa Ali from the Associated Medical Sciences faculty earns competitive European support to advance research capabilities in infectious diseases and clinical microbiology.
The Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences at Khon Kaen University extends its warmest congratulations to Ms Sureesa Ali, a doctoral candidate in Medical Technology, who has been selected by the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) for a competitive grant. Under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ratree Tavichakorntrakool, Ms Ali will attend the international training programme “Thriving in ID/CM: Essential Skills for Young Scientist Members” at the Medical University of Lodz in Łódź, Poland. The programme is scheduled for 2–5 September 2026.
The specialised training programme develops essential skills and capacity in early-career researchers working in infectious diseases (ID) and clinical microbiology (CM). Participating young scientists will engage in intensive learning modules, exchange invaluable research insights with international peers, and build sustainable academic networks across global institutions.
Ms Ali expressed her enthusiasm about the opportunity to represent the university on an international stage and advance her career as an emerging researcher.
“Attending the Thriving in ID/CM programme at the Medical University of Lodz is a significant milestone in my research journey,” Ms Ali said. “Beyond expanding my core expertise in infectious diseases and clinical microbiology – which directly aligns with my current doctoral studies – this platform allows me to explore innovative technologies, exchange cutting-edge methodologies, and build lasting connections with scientists worldwide.”
Ms Ali also said she is committed to applying the insights, technical expertise, and global perspectives gained from the training toward her ongoing doctoral research. She aims to make impactful academic contributions while raising the international profile of the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences and Khon Kaen University.
This competitive achievement underscores the high calibre of early-career researchers cultivated at Khon Kaen University. It highlights the institution’s commitment to building international collaboration, advancing scientific research in infectious diseases, and supporting students to generate impactful knowledge for the global academic community and broader society.
