Faculty of Engineering Hosts “Transforming Thai Agriculture with Drone Business Models” Showcase to Advance Precision Agricultural Technology

The Faculty of Engineering at Khon Kaen University (KKU) staged a high-profile showcase event entitled “Transforming Thai Agriculture with Drone Business Models” under the project “Development of Agricultural Drone Business and Service Networks”. The initiative aimed to share knowledge, technology, and innovations in agricultural drones while building collaborative networks that link drone pilots, farmers, entrepreneurs, the public and private sectors, and academic institutions. The project is led by Associate Professor Kwantree Saengprachatanarung, PhD, and funded by the Program Management Unit for Area-based Development (PMUA) under the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO).

The event opened with a project overview from Associate Professor Kwantree, followed by an opening address from Professor Thidarut Boonmars, DVM, PhD, Vice President for Enterprise and Societal Sustainability at Khon Kaen University. The programme included lectures and knowledge-sharing sessions on agricultural drone business models, digital industry trends, drone standard testing centres, research advancements, and specialised skill-development curricula for agricultural drone pilots. The event also featured hub-style exhibitions and site visits, giving participants the chance to exchange practical experiences and forge strategic partnerships.

This event underlines the vital role of the Faculty of Engineering at Khon Kaen University in applying engineering expertise, digital technology, and drone innovations to strengthen the agricultural sector. By creating business opportunities, upskilling the workforce, and bolstering grass-roots economies, Khon Kaen University continues to drive sustainable community development and shape the future of Thai agriculture.
