Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Strengthens Faculty–Student Connections Through Comprehensive Student Support

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khon Kaen University (KKU), continues to build close and meaningful connections between academic staff and students through a series of activities that give students the chance to meet, communicate, exchange ideas, and seek guidance from their year-level instructors and academic advisers in a friendly and supportive environment. These activities are designed not only to support students academically but also to prepare them for their future careers while promoting their safety, well-being, and quality of life.

Throughout September 2026, the Faculty organised activities for students at different year levels. One of these was “Freshy Talk: A Casual Talk with Year-Level Instructors”, which welcomed first-year students and gave them the opportunity to get to know academic staff from the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, as well as their year-level instructor. The activity created a warm, approachable atmosphere for new students as they settled into university life.

For third-year students, the Faculty organized “Dinner Talk Year 3,” which brought together year-level instructors and academic advisors for informal discussions with students. The activity provided a space for students to exchange ideas, ask questions, and receive guidance on both academic matters and university life.

For second-year students, the Faculty held “KEEP GOING Year 2: Recharging Your Heart and Moving Forward Together” on September 23, 2026, at Room 2316, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khon Kaen University. Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanis Pathumanon, the second-year instructor, met with students to discuss academic matters, provide information on preparation for the upcoming semester, and offer encouragement and personal guidance in a warm and approachable setting. Key topics included preparation for the KKU Digital Intelligence Quotient (KKU DQ) assessment and the submission of English proficiency test scores from KEPT EXIT, TOEIC, TOEFL, and IELTS, enabling students to plan their academic development effectively.

Meanwhile, fourth-year students participated in a “Fourth-Year Student Meeting” on September 21, 2026, at Room 2316. The meeting was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Somchai Suriya-krai, Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and fourth-year instructor, together with the students’ academic advisory team. The session focused on preparing students for graduation and their transition into the professional field. Topics included the KKU DQ assessment, English proficiency requirements, and compulsory professional practice, including regulations, appropriate attire, student rights and benefits, and safety and support measures in the event of accidents during professional training.

In addition to academic and professional preparation, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences places strong emphasis on student safety and well-being. During these activities, students were provided with information on how to protect themselves from online scams and call-center fraud. They were encouraged to follow the principle of “Do not believe, do not engage, and do not transfer money,” remain cautious when confronted with suspicious situations, and avoid disclosing personal or financial information. Students were also informed that they can seek assistance or report incidents through the 1441 hotline.

Another important component of the Faculty’s student support system is “Listening Space,” a service that provides students with a private and confidential channel to talk, seek advice, and receive psychological support through an online platform. The service is part of the Faculty’s broader commitment to creating a safe and supportive space for students. It is also connected with a wider network of health and well-being services within the Faculty and the University, including the Student Development Division, KKU MORE CARE, KKU Primary Care Unit 123, and the Psychiatry Department of Srinagarind Hospital, allowing students to access appropriate support according to their individual needs.

These activities reflect the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khon Kaen University’s commitment to creating “a space to connect” between faculty members and students in a continuous and accessible manner. The Faculty’s approach extends beyond academic matters to include career preparation, personal safety, and student well-being, ensuring that students know they have faculty members, advisors, and support systems they can turn to whenever they have questions, concerns, or challenges along their educational journey.

This approach represents an important part of the Faculty’s commitment to fostering a learning environment that supports students’ growth and development. It also reflects the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khon Kaen University’s identity as an organization that places equal importance on people and learning, nurturing students not only to become knowledgeable and skilled graduates, but also to develop into future professionals with resilience, responsibility, and a strong foundation for lifelong well-being.
