Mr. Phakphum Charoenwiphas, a 2nd year Associated Medical Science student, Miss Natchariya Apinakpong, a 2nd year Business Administration and Accountancy student, Miss Sutthicha Koolpimthai, a 3rd year Technology student, and Miss Rujira Waennil, a 4th year Science student won their competitors in the national etiquette contest, the “46th Thanachat Initiates and fulfill Thai Identities.” The four were awarded the first prize. Khon Kaen University will receive a trophy of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and a prize of 10,000 THB while the students will receive 20,000 THB as scholarship and certificates from Thanachat Bank (Public Company). The contest was held on Wednesday December 13, 2017 from 8.30 a.m. at Thanachat Bank (Public Company), Sala Suam Mali Room, 2nd Floor, Suan Mali Building, Chalermkhet 4 Road, Thepsirin, Pomprap Sattruphai District, Bangkok.
Before entering the final round at the national level, the 4 KKU students received the second prize from the Northeast Etiquette Contest in the screening round. The event was sponsored by Thanachat Bank and unde collaboration of Khon Kaen University, Office of the Royal Society, Office of National Broadcasting and Telecommunications (NBTC), Division of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Cultures and Office of Basic Education Commission (OBEC). The 46th Thanachat Initiates and fulfill Thai Identities featured “Reading Aloud Contest” and “Thai Etiquette Contest”. Winners receive trophies from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and scholarships. The purpose is to enhance cultural awareness among the youths. The event was held on July 1-3, 2017 at Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, before the national contest.
In the semi-final round, Khon Kaen University team scored 238, winning the competitors who were from Faculty of Education, Chiangmai University and scored 219. The second runner-up was the group from Udinthani Rajabhat University, who scored 218.5 and the third runner-up was Kamphaenphet Rajabhat University scoring 213. There were 4 universities receiving the honorary mention awards.
