On November 10, 2017, Queen Sirikit Northeast Heart Center, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University organized training on “The Use of AED” at Noppadol Thongsophit Room, 3rd Floor,  Queen Sirikit Heart Center.

Queen Sirikit Heart Center held the training on the use of AED (automatic external defibrillator) to increase potentiality of personnel of the center in the age when medical technology is becoming very advanced. Cardiac arrest is a condition that can threaten life. Nursing the patient with cardiac arrest with CPR necessitates the use of a device that assists the heart to resume its function by itself. This device is an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). It analyzes the heart and stimulates it to function normally. However, AED is a new device at the center. Personnel are not skillful in using it. This training was therefore held so that the personnel will understand and be able to help patients in time. The training comprised lectures and demonstration of the use of AED by guests from Sovic Company. 160 staff members participated in the training including both medical personnel and supporting staff. AED as then installed for emergency cases at 6 points around the heart center.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Pattarapong Makornwes (MD), Director of Queen Sirikit Heart Center said, “It is already known that technology in medicine nowadays has become very advanced. New  tools and devices have often been produced with high accuracy for diagnosis, treatment, life saving and rehabilitating the patient to live a good quality of life. The understanding of how to use AED will enable personnel to help patients in time. The device is standardized, and very safe for use.”
