In the opening ceremony of this event, Ajarn Chatiporn Muangkhot Mungkhunsaen, Assistant to the President for Nongkhai Campus reported the background of the project to the Chairperson, Mr. Ronnachai Jitwiset, Governor of Nongkhai Province, who presided over the ceremony by also lighting the incense sticks and candles to pay homage to the Triple Gem. The Governor related Nongkhai history to the participants and gave a talk to the students. Head of Organizations and personnel of the campus all joined the event.

Ajarn Chatiporn Muangkhot Mungkhunsaen, Assistant to the President for Nongkhai Campus said this project, “Walk around Nongkhai to pay homage to the Sacred of the City and tighten students’ relationship of the year 2017” arose from both Student Organization and Student Union of Khon Kaen University seeing the importance of paying homage to the sacred places of worship in Nongkhai. The activity will instill the conscience in the freshmen who came to study at Nongkhai campus of the warmth, good relationship, love, and unity among all classes of students. They will also be proud of the institution. Moreover, this group of the 54th freshmen will have a chance to worship the sacred places of Nongkhai and learn the cultures and history of the province, too.”

Mr. Ronnachai Jitwiset, Governor of Nongkhai Province said that Nongkhai is a province of long history. It is important both in economy and history of Thai. People of Nongkhai are all proud of the beautiful history and they have faith towards Luang Pho Phra Sai, the sacred Buddha Image of the city that is revered by both the people in Thailand as well as people in the neighboring countries. Students who come to study here should then worship the Buddha Image here.
