        At 10.30 a.m. on January 10, 2018, Faculty of Agriculture and Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives held a press conference at Room 5101, AG05 Building, Faculty of Agriculture on Isan Agriculture Fair 2018. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kriengkrai Kitjaroen, Vice President for Arts, Cultures, and Community Relation gave an overview of the fair, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Monchai Duangchinda, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture as the chairperson of the fair organization committee gave details of the faculty’s activities. Dr. Pattana Nusri-an, a representative from Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and Mr. Niran Sookchan, Director of Agricultural Research and Development Office Area 1 talked about the activities to be organized by Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. A lot of media people attended.       

Isan Agriculture Fair developed from the small fair that sold students’ farm produce. This year the 28th Isan Agriculture fair is scheduled from Friday January 26 to Sunday February 4, 2018 and at Agricultural Technology Park, Khon Kaen University. The fair this year is under the concept, “Isan Fair, succeeding King Rama 9’s wishes”.

        Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kriengkrai Kitjaroen, Vice President for Arts, Cultures, and Community Relation said that Isan Agriculture Fair this year is expected to be a venue for academic and technology learning and sharing at all levels as well as for disseminating and transferring knowledge of agricultural technology and agronomy to people coming to the fair. This will be in accordance with the government’s Thailand 4.0 policy. At the same time, students will have a chance to train in academic skills and field work. Moreover, agricultural business expansion is expected to be encouraged and demonstrated to all sectors concerned to see the importance of agriculture as food producer. Isan Agriculture Fair is certain to bring academic benefits as the main target and economic benefits to Khon Kaen province and Isan region through support of entrepreneurs that bring farm produces and other products to sell.       

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Monchai Duangchinda, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture and chairperson of the Organization Committee said that Isan Agriculture Fair 2018 is aimed to commemorate the virtue of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and to succeed His Majesty’s wishes to sustainably develop agriculture and share agricultural research and technology to the community. At the same time, it is aimed at stimulating expansion in agricultural SMEs and OTOP products and responding to Thailand 4.0 policy. The fair will connect Zoning by Agri-Map, organic farm products standards, new theory agriculture, integrated agriculture, and full-cycle rice production.

        The activities in the fair include exhibition to commemorate His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, exhibition of sustainable agricultural development under the reign of His majesty King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradepayavarangkoon, exhibition by the co-host government organizations that meet Thailand 4.0 policy, shops selling community products, exhibition of academic advances and work outcomes of Faculty of Agriculture and relevant organizations, national and international academic conferences, local wisdom competition, outstanding community product contest, demonstration of livestock and fishery advances, the 22nd National Buffalo Fair, animal contest, the 7th Isan Agriculture Folk Music Contest, etc.
