KKU joins Thai Health Organization to report on happiness and attachment in the organization – the results show that personnel possess high determination and are happy in their work

       วัOn February 9, 2018, Khon Kaen University and the Health Promotion Funding Organization reported the results of survey on organizational attachment and happiness of Khon Kaen University people. The report was related by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dusadee Ayuwat, a professor from Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Director of “Development of Organization Happiness Construction Method and Process towards a Happy Organization” project. Asst. Prof. Likhit Amattayakong, Vice President for Human Resources presided over the opening. Over 100 personnel of Khon Kaen University attended.

       Asst. Prof. Likhit Amattayakong, Vice President for Human Resources said that this project shows the important of happiness of personnel, which meets with the 1st pillar on Green and Smart Campus an organization with smart administration and care for all working units. It is believed that if personnel are happy, the university will be driven forward towards success.

       Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dusadee Ayuwat, the project director revealed that this project has objectives to create participatory learning and happiness building. The process and pattern of happiness building at the sub-organization level cover 8 happiness dimensions. The analysis of the factors affecting these dimensions will lead to a happy workplace. The network of happy university will be extended to the northern Northeast. This research was cooperated by all organizations in answering the questionnaire.   

       “The data collected was divided into 2 issues: organization attachment under 3 key variables: SAY – what people say about the organization in the positive or negative way; STAY – wants to be with the organization; and STRIVE – determination to work.  Overall, determination to work is 79.21%, but it should be noted that their want to stay with the organization was low (72.77%). Three items were suggested to develop organizational attachment found from the open-end question. For leaders – it was found that leaders should care for and provide justice to personnel more; colleagues – colleagues should accept opinions of colleagues. The fringe benefit system of personnel should be added and staff development project should be supported. Secondly, the 8 dimensions of happiness were found to be high. The social-related happiness was high (84.28%). In terms of physical, knowledge, and relaxation, the percentages were low, 71.84, 70.72 and 68.79%, respectively. From the open end questions on happiness building it was found that there should be a good leader, work security, welfare and remuneration as well as relaxing activities.”  

        “Development of Organization Happiness Construction Method and Process towards a Happy Organization” project involves 4 phases and 11 activities. The present activity is under Phase 1, Activity 3 – report on organizational attachment and happiness. The target is to enhance happiness to 70% by 2018.   

 

       The research information will be presented in the Dean Meeting and will be performed by leader of each organization that joins to design activities and drive the organization forward in the next stage. The activity is held on February 20 to March 9, 2018.
