On November 7th, 2018, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) under the Ministry of Science and Technology entered an MOU agreement with its alliances comprising of Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand and Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency:GISTDA (Public Organization) to develop the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECI). The allies have reached the agreement to developing an aviation industries in the northeast, the north and the south of Thailand via the support from the respective regional science parks. The research and investment in aviation innovation from CMKL University and Thai Alcohol Limited (Public Organization) will also be exploited in support of regional aviation development.
The MOU ratification held at the Ministry of Science and Technology welcomed the presence of member representatives comprising of; Dr. Narong Sirilertworakul, a director of NSTDA, Dr. Jengrit Kanatarana, an assistant director of NSTDA, Dr. Chula Sookmanob, a director of Civial Aviation Authority of Thailand, Dr. Anon Sanitwong Na Ayudhya, a director of Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prasert Lergkriangai, a vice president, acting president of Chiang Mai University also representing the Northern Science Park, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kitichai Triratanasirichai, a KKU president representing the Northeastern Science Park, Assis. Prof. Kamron Pitak, a director of the Southern Science Park and acting president f Sonkla Nagarind University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supan Tungjitkusolman, a president of CMKL university, Khun Wichai Kottititam, and executive of Thai Alcohol Company Limited (Public Organization) and Professor Dr. Supachai Phathumnakul, a director of the Northeastern Science Park attended the ratification ceremony as a witness.
This MOU aims to collaborate with Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECI) for the development of the science parks in the northern, the northeastern and the southern regions, based on the idea of Hub of the Hubs. EECI will play crucial role in advocating research and innovative investment among public and private sectors and universities within and beyond Thailand. Upon the signing of the MOU, any projects or research that are essential for the national innovation development can be implemented at the science parks while EECI is on its way preparing for investment space.
