501 KKU sport players fight for victory at “UBRU Games”

Brick-colored flag is strongly waved at “UBRU Games” where 501 KKU players join to strengthen relationship with 114 institutes under the motto, “sports for learning leading to sustainable development”

   On January 8, 2019 at the office of Student Affairs and Alumni Relations Division, and Sport Division, Khon Kaen University, Asst. Prof. Jatoonsak Pantawisit, Assistant to the President for Sports, gave report speech at the ceremony, and Assoc. Prof. Piansak Pakdee, Vice President for Student and Alumnus Affairs, president of the ceremony remarked supporting speech to KKU sport players who are attending the 46th University Sports of Thailand at Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University, Ubon Ratchathani Province. On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr.Narin Chansri, Assistant to the President for Student and Alumnus Affairs, Assoc.Prof. Chuchart Kamollert, Dean of Faculty of Veterinary, Mr. Prasit Totuyo, Chairman of the Civil Servants and Staff Club of Khon Kaen University, Mr. Somsak Taejaroenwiriyakul, Chairman of Khon Kaen University Alumni Association, and representatives from other offices attended in the warmly organized ceremony.  

   This year, Assoc. Prof. Piansak Pakdee granted the university flag to Mr. Wisit Boonsuchat, Director of Sport Division, as the leader of KKU sport players. Then Mr. Wisit passed the flag to President of Sport and Recreation, KKU Student Union, and the flag waved among the sound of applause which represented the symbol of readiness of 501 sport players.          

       Asst. Prof. Jatoonsak Pantawisit stated, “Khon Kaen University is an academic institute sending sport players and staff to attend the university sport every year. This is the 46th year called “Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University Games” organized at Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University in Ubon Ratchathani Province. Totally, there are 114 universities with sport players and staff over 25,000 people attending. Khon Kaen University have sent 329 sport players and 172 staff members, or 501 in all, to this event. This year there are 32 types of common sport and 2 types of demonstration sport. KKU sport players compete in 29 types of sport as follows: 1. atheletics  2. swimming  3. basketball  4. football  5. badminton  6. Sepak Takraw  7. Taekwondo  8. futsal  9. tennis  10. fencing  11. table tennis  12. boxing  13. shooting  14. judo  15. hockey  16. Beach volleyball  17. Petanque 18. rowing  19. rugby  20. Karate Do  21. golf  22. A-maths  23. Body building  24. crossword  25. bridge  26. Go  27. Thai boxing 28. Thai fencing, and 29. E-Sport as a demonstration sport”      

   Assoc. Prof. Piansak Pakdee said, “Khon Kaen University is one of 114 institutes sending sport players and staff to attend the 46th University Sports of Thailand or “Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University Games” participated by over 25,000 players and staff. We can see that all participating institutes nationwide see the importance of this event and give great collaboration because it is the opportunity to meet and strengthen relationship among institutes. Thank you all sport players and staff for dedicating your time for practicing and participating in this event. Winning or losing the game is not important at all. However, sportsmanship is the key. On behalf of Khon Kaen University, I wish everyone has a safe trip and bring the victory back with great pride and honor.”

   University Sports of Thailand is the competition having been organized by the University Sports Board of Thailand for 46 years, which is entitled “Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University Games” this year. The university sports are held under the theme of “sports for learning leading to sustainable development.” All 501 KKU sport players compete in 29 types of sport with other 114 institutes. Besides competing as sport players, KKU players are also the university’s representatives for strengthening relationship between other universities.
