On Wednesday 10th, 2019, KKU’s Faculty of Agriculture in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperative hosted a press conferene about the KKU’ Isaan Agriculture Fair 2019. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kriangkrai Kitchaleon, the KKU’s vice president for culture and communication affairs, presented to the press about the origin of the fair prior to a detailed description of the agricultural activities by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Monchai Duangchinda, the Agriculture’s dean and chairman of the fair administration board. Among a large number of honorable guests, Dr. Patana Nusri-un, the representative from the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperative and Mr. Jumlong Kokrum, the director of the Center for Research and Development in Agriculture Area 3, also presented at the conference held at the Faculty of Agriculture’s AG 05 building.
Isaan Agriculture Fair was originally initiated by the attempt to find a market for the selling of the agricultural students’ products. The fair is co-organized annually by different offices affiliating to the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperative and Khon Kaen province. Marking its 29th year anniversary, the Isaan Agriculture Fair 2019 is between January 25 to February 3 with the slogan: “Bringing out Isaan’s agricultural Innovation, with the aggregation of local wisdom for the sustainability of development.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kriangkrai Kitchaleon, the KKU’s vice president for culture and communication affairs, said the Isaan Agriculture Fair is a good example of a prototype of collaboration of all related parties aiming for collective and sustainable development. The fair broadcasts the Isaan’s agricultural advancement, provides an arena for agricultural academic exchanges, disseminates knowledge and agricultural technology to the public, promotes the students activity and builds academic presentation skill, provide an area for the distribution of agricultural goods, triggers agricultural economy, and endorses the role of agriculture as the world food provider. Based on the listed merits, Isaan Agriculture Fair is truly important for all people.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Monchai Duangchinda, the Agriculture’s dean and chairman of the fair administration board, this year’s Isaan Agriculture Fair is organized partially to pay tribute to King Bhumibol Adulyadej and to honor His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkul and all the royal family members for their support on the application of the King Theory in bringing about sustainable development in the country. The fair is a hub for agricultural academic exchange between the private and the public sector. The fair also helps disseminate the agricultural technologies to the public. I
To be included in the Isaan Agricultural Fair are; exhibition of agriculture innovation and technology, SME and agricultural promotion activities, community shops, academic and research seminars, agricultural career trainings, local wisdom contest, the 8th Isaan Agricultural singing contest, and the exhibition of advancement in livestock and fishery, among others.
