On May 22, 2019 – Banchivasil, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Khon Kaen University, organizes fund raising activities to support art performing volunteers healing patients’ souls. Activities for this fund raising included showing the movie entitled “the Only Mom,” which is licensed to show 3 rounds at Isan Film Archive, the President Building 2 (the old building).

At 5 p.m., the opening ceremony began and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niyom Wongpongkham, Dean of Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, kindly presided over and gave welcome speech to distinguished guests as well as participants. After that, for the best benefit of students, especially art performing students, the organizer held a talk on the topic from the movie – “the belief in witch in Southeast Asia.” The host of the talk was Ajarn Mallika Tangsangob, and the speakers were Ajarn Sarawanee Sukhumvada as well as Mr. Chartchai Ketnat.

This activity could happen because of collaboration from many organizations, both inside and outside the university. The main official sponsor was Toyota Khon Kaen headquarters (Khon Kaen Bus Terminal 3, Ban Kudkwang Branch) granting initial fund of     20,000 baht to Asst. Prof. Dr. Kritsada Wongkumchun, Associate Dean for Student Development and Alumni Relations, together with Dr. Pat Kotchapakdee, Assistant to the Dean for International and Communication Affairs. In addition, Mr. Chartchai Ketnat, the director of “the Only Mom” provided the movie for showing free of charge, so all of the money from ticket sales was given to Banchivasil. Moreover, there was another sponsor, Documentary Club.

“The Only Mom” is a Myanmar movie directed by Mr. Chartchai Ketnat, a Thai director directing Myanmar movie for the second time. The movie is very popular in Myanmar because of good production and the value of art which had been presented very well comparing to other movies in the country. No doubt that it could become the talk of the town. One thing about the movie which is unforgettable is the spine-chilling atmosphere combined with experience about riot that Myanmar people know well.
