The Energy Community, Faculty of Engineering Students’ Union and the Mechanical Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, have arranged “the 8th Mor Din Daeng Energy Conservation Camp,” which was held from May 23-26, 2019. High school students throughout Thailand were invited to join the Camp.
Mr. Sittisak Poomsakha, the third year KKU student of the Mechanical Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, as the President of the Camp organizer, said that the Mor Din Daeng Energy Conservation Camp was initiated to disseminate knowledge and enhance understanding towards energy, awareness in energy conservation and the utmost benefits from energy usage, in the aspects of energy usage in buildings and in daily life. Students would collaboratively learn through activities in the Camp. The Energy Community, Faculty of Engineering Students’ Union and the Mechanical Engineering Program have been hosting the Mor Din Daeng Energy Conservation Camp continually. This year, the Camp was arranged again, as the 8th Mor Din Daeng Energy Conservation Camp, using the budget from KKU Bureau of Academic Service, supports and sponsorships from various sectors that saw the importance of the Camp’s activities. The Activities in the Camp were focusing on study visits in various internal offices in Khon Kaen University that were related to energy, renewable energy, bio-diesel producing and Net Zero Energy Building. In addition, the study visits were also conducted in external agencies, such as the Nam Phong Power Plant. The Camp Participants had opportunities to do activities in the labs of the Mechanical Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University. The previous Camp was attended by many high school students who applied through online channel. The number of the Camp applicants was higher than what the organizers had expected. Besides, the Camp created opportunities for high school students to experience the learning atmosphere in Khon Kaen University. This would help to motivate students to further their study in Khon Kaen University.
On May 24, 2019, at 9 a.m., the Communication Affairs Division, President Offices Building, by Miss Jutamas Philachai, Mr. Worawit Siripanuwat, and Mr. Apichat Maneechakra warmly welcomed the participants of “the 8th Mor Din Daeng Energy Conservation Camp” at the Communication Affairs Division Conference Room, President Offices Building 2. There was a lecture on “The Designing of Net Zero Energy Building” by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chumnan Boonyaputthipong, the instructor and researcher from the Faculty of Architecture, Khon Kaen University. The students were taken for a tour inside and outside the Net Zero Energy Building, and they also study visited the solar panel on the top of the Building. Asst. Prof. Dr. Chumnan Boonyaputthipong was the lecturer during the Building tour. The following activity was a study visit at the Station of Compressed Bio-Methane Gas (CBG) derived from animal waste and Napier Grass, Khon Kaen University.
Miss Kanvisa Thaisuriyan, a student from Kangpla Wittayakhom School, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, revealed her thoughts and experiences from the Camp, “I have always wanted to study in the Faculty of Engineering and gain experiences and knowledge in engineering, so I decided to apply and came to this Camp, using my personal budget. I took a study leave from school to join this Camp in particular because I think it’s worth coming here, even it is far from my house. What I have gained here are new knowledge and new friends. The atmosphere in Khon Kaen University is good for studying. I am impressed by good activities and hospitality from KKU students. These KKU senior students warmly welcomeed us like we are a part of KKU family. I think it is a very good Camp.”
