Faculty of Architecture, KKU, brings home reputation from winning interior house design held by the elephant-brand gypsum

August 17, 2023 – the ‘Tua Tueng Lang Hong’ Team (Back of Class Top Team) comprising Mr. Nattawit Pitipornpat and Mr. Tanapat Pimkorn, fourth year students majoring in architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Khon Kaen University, won the first prize from the Interior House Design Project held by the Elephant-Brand Gypsum Company. The news was announced on August 17 at the Thailand Creative Design Center, Khon Kaen.

Tanapat Pimkorn, a representative of the ‘Tua Tueng Lang Hong’ Team gave an interview to relate about their team’s design concept of NLF HOME: Natural Light Family Home, which is the design for the home to be the place for everyone in the family. All family members can feel the warmth and happiness from sunlight and natural atmosphere. The surrounding also suits relaxation and building of family happiness. The said idea has been incorporated in the design for the space that interconnects without any division by the solid wall V2, Elephant Brand (the wall system product). The space effectively answers usage of 3-generation family including a grandmother, mother, father and a son. The house truly builds happiness and warmth from the natural light and good air circulation.

There were 2 more groups of students from the Faculty of Architecture, Khon Kaen University that received the prizes from the same venue: The second prize was awarded to ‘decxmber25’ by Miss Marisa Chonpracha, a 4th year student majoring in architecture and the fourth prize to ‘Huan Po Ka Thoen” Team including Mr. Attapan Angkaew and Mr. Jirapat Butrsri, 4th year students majoring in design.

The House Interior Design Project by Elephant-brand Gypsum set the following concepts for the competition: Sustainability, Health Safety, and Wellness that correspond to the lifestyle today. The purpose was to lay the path for building sustainable society and community. The given question was to design a house of not over 3 stories with interior design. If students designed the exterior, it would not be counted in the score; it was enough to demonstrate this in ‘form’. The scope was freedom in leveling and height of each room and zone. The interior space was 300 square meters and the house stood on a land plot of 200 square-was. Students were free to set other contexts: the land shape, direction, etc. However, all teams had to design a house for an expanded family composed of the grandmother aged 80 years old, the father aged 45 years, the mother aged 30 years and their 10-year old son. The company joined with the Faculty of Architecture, Khon Kaen University and the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design and Creative Arts, Mahasarakham University to organize this project. The participants were 1st to 5th year students of the said two faculties.
