Khon Kaen University (KKU) hosted a delegation from Taiwan’s National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) on September 1, 2025, to advance academic cooperation between the two institutions. The meeting focused on developing new collaborative models, particularly the International Industrial Talents Education Special Program (INTENSE).
The discussion was led by KKU’s Vice President for International Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nawarat Wara-aswapati, and NSYSU’s Vice President for International Affairs, Professor Ming-Hsuan Lee.
The INTENSE Program, a policy initiative supported by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, aims to integrate resources from government, industry, and higher education to attract and train high-potential international students for industrial sectors. The program is designed to align with global labor market demands, providing Thai students with opportunities for international education and future employment.
“This signing ceremony marks another significant step in strengthening the academic relationship between Khon Kaen University and NSYSU,” stated Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nawarat. She noted that three key faculties—Engineering, Business Administration and Accountancy, and Science—are spearheading the collaboration. “This is the first formal cooperation between our Faculty of Science and NSYSU, building on a foundational visit our representatives made to their science college earlier this year to plan for student exchanges and internships.”
Professor Ming-Hsuan Lee expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and her optimism for the partnership. “We hope that the programs we discussed, especially the INTENSE Program and the future Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), can be launched soon and provide long-term benefits to students from both universities,” she said.
National Sun Yat-sen University, a renowned public research university in Kaohsiung, is recognized internationally for its strengths in science, engineering, management, and marine sciences. With internationally accredited programs and strong industry ties, NSYSU plays a vital role in Taiwan’s higher education system.
This partnership reflects Khon Kaen University’s vision to become a leading international university by creating educational opportunities that equip students with the skills needed for the technological advancements of the 21st century.
