The Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University, organised a formal ceremony to express their profound condolences for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
The event was attended by Assistant Professor Angkhana Boonyeud, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Science; Associate Professor Kajarin Siriwong, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Administration; Associate Professor Somnuek Worawiset, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Student Development and Alumni Relations; along with administrators, faculty members, heads of units, and personnel. The ceremony took place in the lobby area in front of the Faculty Administration Office on the ground floor of the SC.06 Building.

Assistant Professor Angkhana Boonyeud, the Dean, delivered a speech reflecting on Her Majesty’s royal benevolence and expressing profound sorrow:
“On behalf of the Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University, I, along with the management team, faculty members, personnel, and students, respectfully express our deep gratitude for the boundless Royal Grace and offer our deepest condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
Her Majesty’s royal duties not only promoted arts and culture but also established Her as a paramount patron of science and technology in Thailand. Her vision focused on applying scientific knowledge to sustainably solve problems and elevate the quality of life for the people. As a scientific educational institution, we recognise Her Majesty’s profound contributions to national development in the following dimensions:
Application of Technology for Career Creation: Her Majesty promoted research and development of local wisdom, advancing it through scientific principles. A key example is the SUPPORT Foundation Project, which applied modern technology to improve fibre development, natural dyeing, and handicraft production processes to meet international standards. This ultimately transformed them into celebrated intellectual property and cultural products.
Resource Conservation through Scientific Principles: Her Majesty placed significant emphasis on environmental conservation, especially forests and wildlife, through various projects. These projects employed principles from biology, ecology, and engineering in the rehabilitation of degraded areas, water resource management, and the establishment of wildlife breeding centres for conservation purposes.
Promotion of Knowledge and Innovation: Many Royal Initiative Projects served as observable learning centres, integrating various disciplines—including science, technology, and agriculture—for sustainable development. This vision provided the vital inspiration for the establishment of the Queen Sirikit Science Museum, continuing Her Majesty’s commitment to fostering a scientific society in Thailand.
These Royal Duties serve as a testament to Her Majesty’s ingenuity in using science as a tool to develop quality of life, ensure occupational stability, and create environmental sustainability. The Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University, hereby resolves to inherit this Royal determination by focusing on research and innovative creation that addresses community and social development needs, following the path She pioneered, in dedication to Her Royal Merit and in eternal gratitude for Her Royal Grace.”
Following the speech, attendees observed a moment of silence and proceeded to sign the book of condolences for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, concluding the ceremony.
The ceremony demonstrated deep loyalty and commitment to integrating the Royal vision into the development of scientific knowledge and innovation for the sustained benefit of society and the nation.
