On 5 November 2568, Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Assistant Professor Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for International Affairs, along with Assistant Professor Angkhana Boonyued, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Science, and representatives from the faculty, welcomed a delegation from National Pingtung University (NPTU), Taiwan.
The NPTU delegation was led by Professor Dr. Kelvin H.C. Chen, Dean of the Office of International Affairs, accompanied by Professor Dr. Yao-Sheng Liao, Dean of the Department of Commerce Automation & Management, and Associate Professor Jong-Chin Huang, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs. The purpose of their visit was to discuss future academic cooperation, and the meeting took place at Witthayawiphas Room 2, 2nd Floor, Witthayawiphas Building, Faculty of Science, Khon Kaen University.
The primary objective of the discussion was to develop academic collaboration, particularly concerning the INTENSE (International Industrial Talents Education Special Programme), a strategic policy initiative supported by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education. Furthermore, the meeting provided a platform to exchange ideas on student exchange programmes and prospective research collaboration.
In the morning, the NPTU delegation visited the Faculty of Economics, where they met with Associate Professor Sutin Wiwianwianwith, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Economics, and the management team. They held discussions regarding the direction for developing future cooperation and toured the faculty facilities.
Subsequently, the NPTU delegation proceeded to the Faculty of Medicine, where they were warmly welcomed by Assistant Professor Suphawan Laohasiriwong, M.D., Assistant Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communications. Representatives from various departments presented an overview of their academic programmes and led the delegation on tours of the facilities and laboratories.
The two universities commenced their collaboration in 2566 through partnerships involving three key faculties: the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Economics, and the Faculty of Medicine. This cooperation has involved student and staff exchanges, internships, and cooperative education projects. Both parties expressed their intent to further solidify this strong relationship by expanding collaboration in research, student exchange programmes, and promoting dual degree programmes.
