
KHON KAEN – The Faculty of Economics at Khon Kaen University (KKU) welcomed a delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (USSH-VNU) on January 20, 2026, to discuss future academic collaboration.
The meeting, held at the Faculty of Economics, was aimed at establishing a formal relationship between the two institutions. Key objectives included promoting student and staff exchanges, building a robust academic network, and sharing institutional knowledge to foster future integration and joint projects.

Associate Professor Dr. Sutin Wianwiwat, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at KKU, warmly welcomed the Vietnamese delegates. “This is a significant starting point for building our international cooperation network,” he stated. “The Faculty of Economics is delighted to have this opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience, moving towards sustainable and tangible academic collaboration.”
Discussions centered on several key areas for partnership, including student exchanges, joint academic boot camps, a collaborative GMS (Greater Mekong Subregion) webinar series, and joint research initiatives. Dean Sutin emphasized that these efforts are designed to create concrete cooperation relevant to the Mekong region.

Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of USSH-VNU, expressed his honor in leading the delegation to KKU. “This meeting is an excellent opportunity to build a bridge for academic cooperation between our institutions, which will greatly benefit educational and research development in the ASEAN and Mekong regions,” he said. He affirmed USSH-VNU’s readiness to advance tangible collaborations in student and faculty exchanges, joint academic activities, and research that addresses regional needs.

Assistant Professor Prasert Wijitnopparat, Associate Dean for Research and Innovation at KKU’s Faculty of Economics, noted that the visit highlights the faculty’s capacity for international partnership. “This cooperation will help elevate our teaching, research, and academic services to international standards, while providing our students and faculty with valuable global experience,” he commented.
The visit marks a significant step in strengthening academic ties between Thailand and Vietnam, aligning with the visions of both universities to be leading institutions in the region.
