Khon Kaen University (KKU) formally announced the results of the election for the Student Administrative Organisation Committee and Student Council members for the Academic Year 2026. The announcement ceremony was held at the Division of Student Affairs and Alumni Relations on 2 February 2026. The event was vibrant and well attended by administrators, faculty members, and students who gathered to witness the results and show support for the candidates. In addition, the KKU Eggs Lounge, titled “Satiated and Heartened at the KKU Egg Coop”, which was co-developed with various student clubs, provided complimentary food and beverages, fostering a warm and collegial atmosphere throughout the event.
The proceedings opened with remarks by Associate Professor Pensri Jaroenwanit, Ph.D., Vice President for Student Affairs and Innovation Commercialization. She commended the dedication of all students who committed themselves to serving the collective good. “Any person who submitted an application has already demonstrated the heart of a leader,” she remarked, emphasising that the decision to run reflects courage and a willingness to devote time to university development.
Associate Professor Pensri also offered encouragement to the unsuccessful candidates, stating, “Do not feel disheartened, but be proud that you performed your best.” She advised them to view disappointment as an “opportunity for development” to learn and strengthen themselves in the future.
Following this, Associate Professor Prapansak Chaveerach, DVM., Ph.D., Assistant to the President for Student Affairs and Innovation Commercialization, in his capacity as Chairman of the Central Student Election Committee (CEC), provided an overview of the election process. He praised the capabilities of candidates from both the Lueat Si It Group and the Kalapruek Group, who presented intriguing visions and policies, reflecting a genuine intention to maximise benefits for students.
“This election not only demonstrates democracy within the University but also allows students to participate through voting, which is a vital part of shaping the direction of various activities and projects,” the Assistant to the President stated.
Voter turnout for the online ballot via KKUMAIL this year was highly encouraging, with 17,171 undergraduate students casting their votes. This represents 52.18% of all eligible voters—a figure that commendably reflects the students’ engagement and awareness of their rights.
The event was honoured by the attendance of the CEC Committee and administrators from various faculties. Representatives from Chiang Mai University (CMU), a partner institution, also sent a team of administrators, staff, and student leaders to observe and exchange knowledge, further strengthening close cooperation.
In closing, the Chairman of the CEC concluded, “I am confident that regardless of the election results, this marks the beginning of creating positive change for our university. Simply running and participating in this process is another victory in learning.” He expressed hope that those elected would perform their duties with honour and work together to continue creating positive developments for Khon Kaen University.
