KHON KAEN – The Computer Science program at Khon Kaen University (KKU) has been ranked third in Thailand by the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) for 2026.
In the global ranking for the Computer Science field, KKU placed 1,799th worldwide and 387th in Asia.
The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is an internationally recognised ranking system that evaluates universities and research institutions based on three key indicators: research performance, innovation output, and societal impact.
According to KKU’s College of Computing, the programme focuses on developing graduates and research initiatives that align with both the university’s strategic policies and national development priorities. Key areas of emphasis include Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Cybersecurity, and Advanced Computing. The college also prioritises integrating computer science knowledge with practical applications to support technological and societal advancement.
In its announcement, the college expressed its aspiration to develop Khon Kaen University into a regional technology hub for the ASEAN region. It also extended its appreciation to faculty members and students for their collaborative efforts, which contributed to this international recognition. The college reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging computer science and digital innovation to support national development and address societal challenges in an increasingly dynamic technological landscape.
