From 13 to 16 April 2026, a delegation from the Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, travelled to Guangxi City Vocational University in the People’s Republic of China. The delegation was led by Associate Professor Ratchaphon Suntivarakorn, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and included Associate Professor Komkrit Pitiruek, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Strategic Planning and Organisational Development; Assistant Professor Panupong Wanjantuk, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Academic Services and Technology Transfer; and Associate Professor Maetee Boonpichetvong, Ph.D.
During the visit, the delegation engaged in discussions with the executive team of Guangxi City Vocational University, specifically the Vice President for International Relations, to explore avenues for academic collaboration. These initial discussions yielded tangible progress; the partner university intends to second approximately ten Chinese instructors to enrol in the Innovative Engineering programme during the inaugural year of the partnership.
Furthermore, both institutions outlined a framework for the joint development of a curriculum in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) design and manufacturing. This includes plans for organising faculty and student exchange activities designed to meet the demands of future industries.
The collaboration is also set to expand into research and technology transfer related to UAVs. This initiative aims to support the advancement of knowledge and innovation applicable to sectors such as agriculture, logistics, and surveying.
On this occasion, the delegation visited the Drone Centre at Guangxi City Vocational University to observe its capabilities in UAV design and production. This visit served as a foundational step for future cooperation in technology transfer and joint curriculum development.
This engagement marks another significant step for the Faculty of Engineering in promoting internationalisation and building a sustainable network of international engineering partnerships.
