Srinagarind Hospital Deploys Mobile Medical Unit to Enhance Healthcare Access in Remote Khon Kaen Community

The outreach initiative under the Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer Foundation provides comprehensive medical services and essential supplies to bridge healthcare gaps in Nong Song Hong District.

Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, deployed a mobile medical unit under the Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer (PMMV) Foundation to Ban Dong Keng School in Dong Keng Sub-district, Nong Song Hong District, Khon Kaen Province, on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. This initiative aimed to sustainably elevate the community’s quality of life while facilitating equitable access to healthcare infrastructure for residents in remote areas. The delegation of specialist physicians, nursing staff, and medical personnel was led by Associate Professor Katcharin Phunikom, M.D., Ph.D., Deputy Director of Srinagarind Hospital, alongside Associate Professor Jarupong Saengboonmee, M.D., and Lecturer Worachart Lertitthiporn, M.D., who collaboratively managed the high volume of citizens seeking medical attention.

The commencement ceremony was presided over by Mr. Khajornkiet Rakpanichmanee, Governor of Khon Kaen Province, as part of the provincial outreach operation titled “Alleviating Suffering, Promoting Happiness, and Creating Smiles for the Citizens”. The opening ceremony was well-attended by prominent regional figures, including the President of the Khon Kaen Red Cross Chapter, the Khon Kaen Provincial Chief Medical Officer, senior executives from various public health agencies, the District Chief of Nong Song Hong, local administrative leaders, sub-district headmen (Kamnan), and village headmen.

The mobile service offered a wide array of treatments, featuring general outpatient check-ups and diagnostic ultrasound sessions. In addition, interactive health education and counseling stations were set up to promote community well-being. These included public health booths organized by the Social Medicine Department, disability support services facilitated by the Social Work Department, and oncological awareness exhibits presented by the Cancer Unit and the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University (KKU).

Demonstrating a strong commitment to local health support, Srinagarind Hospital donated vital medical apparatus and consumer goods to assist vulnerable residents. The contributions included two folding wheelchairs, four walker frames, four cartons of medical-grade surgical masks, 12 wound-dressing kits, bedpans and male urinals, and a substantial supply of essential home medications.

The deployment received profound appreciation from the local populace, who expressed their gratitude towards the medical professionals from Srinagarind Hospital for bringing healthcare directly to their doorsteps. Residents noted that the mobile unit significantly alleviated financial burdens and eliminated travel constraints, proving especially beneficial for senior citizens, immobile patients, and individuals living in isolated sectors. Receiving expert medical consultations and preventative care knowledge has bolstered local self-reliance, reaffirming public trust in the shared mission of government bodies and KKU to achieve health equity and enhance the quality of life across all communities.
